Naganuma Gomei Kaisha
Japanese Sake
We use premium sake-brewing rice varieties, including "Ushu Homare"—often referred to as a "phantom rice"—as well as "Dewa Sansan," "Dewa no Sato," and "Sake Mirai."

【Sake brewery】
This sake brewery blends seamlessly into the streetscape of central Nagai City—an area that once flourished thanks to river transport along the Mogami River. The Naganuma family has a lineage spanning twelve generations since the Edo period; up until the ninth generation, they operated a kimono shop and were engaged in the sericulture industry.
The 10th-generation owner launched the sake brewing business because there were no other breweries in the area.
Production of sake that has long been cherished began in 1916.
Inside the brewery, which exudes a nostalgic atmosphere, traditional production equipment remains in active use.
Prominent examples include the *koshiki* (steamer) used to steam the rice and the *fune* (press) used to extract the liquid.
The *koshiki* functions like a large steaming basket, using steam to cook the rice.
The brewery’s appeal lies in its commitment to preserving traditional methods rather than using automated pressing machines.
Both the brewery and the shop are recognized as historic structures and have been designated as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan.す。
